Custom-Built Container Fueling Station
One Project, Multiple Challenges: Securing & Modernizing
Our client, a renowned flying club, wanted to upgrade and modernize its underground fuel storage facility to accommodate new aircraft and ultralights powered by Rotax engines running on 98 octane unleaded gasoline.
They opted for an above-ground tank that separates AVGAS 100LL aviation gasoline and SP98 gasoline.
To ensure the safety of the fuel storage and protection against corrosion, the tank and its ATEX-certified dispensing system were housed in a 20-foot container.
Avgas 100LL Aviation Fuel Storage & SP98
The PEGASE expertise center has identified a customized solution for the simultaneous storage of two aviation fuels.
The above-ground tank has been divided into two compartments using an intermediate stainless steel partition and two inspection manholes.
This results in a partitioned stainless steel inner wall and 110% overall containment achieved by an external steel tank.
The risk of a potential leak is monitored by a standalone leak detector with visual and audible alarms.
To ensure the longevity of the piping, it is made of stainless steel.
Fueling with Aviation Filtration
For PEGASE, fuel quality is essential.
The aircraft refueling system consists of two pumps, one for Avgas 100LL and the other for unleaded 98.
Thanks to dedicated ATEX pumps, fuel transfer occurs at a flow rate of 50 L/min.
The fuel is then filtered in a coalescing aviation filter with a water separator to ensure safe flight.
The user refuels their aircraft by extending the hose from the reel and then activating the automatic shut-off nozzle.
24/7 Payment Terminal and MID Meter (Certified for Fuel Billing)
The MID meters are certified for reselling fuel to third parties.
In addition, the payment terminal offers 24/7 access to airport users and passing aircraft.

ATEX Above-Ground Tank Filling Pump
Some fuels, such as SP98 gasoline, are delivered by gravity; a pump is required to transfer the fuel from the fuel truck to the tank.
