After several years of research and development, the engineering company from northern France is achieving its first commercial successes in the nuclear and military sectors.
The time for maturity has arrived for the engineering company AX Group. Founded in 2016 through the acquisition of a small, four-person company in inland Flanders, specializing in industrial cleaning with a patented hydraulic system, the company, now based in Bailleul, in the Nord department, has added two other activities: one in cleaning robots for solar panels; The other, resulting from external growth in Belgium, focuses on PEGASE trailer systems and fuel distribution. These three activities have been the subject of a high level of research and development, representing 25% of revenue.
This upstream work, which has resulted in a portfolio of six patents, is now bearing commercial fruit. The first activity, AX Systems, has developed high-pressure cleaning and misting technologies that improve the efficiency of power plants. It has just secured a €1.5 million contract with Spie Nucléaire for the Bugey nuclear power plant in the Ain department. Its misting system is designed to smooth out temperature spikes, allowing the backup diesel generators to operate up to a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius. “We fully intend to equip the 54 other French reactors by 2030,” explains CEO Romain Pennel, who is also targeting international markets. Several thermal power plants in Qatar and Mexico, among other countries, are already equipped with the system.
