Custom project: Containerised 30,000 L Jet A-1 refuelling station for airports
A custom-built aviation refuelling station designed by PEGASE ENERGIES
At PEGASE Énergies, every project is designed to meet the precise constraints of our customers. We recently delivered a containerised 30,000-litre refuelling station dedicated to the storage and distribution of Jet A-1 fuel for an airport.
This project illustrates our expertise in designing aviation fuel storage stations that comply with the safety, fuel quality and reliability requirements imposed by airport operators.
Manufactured in France, this installation offers a complete solution for the secure storage, filtration, quality control and distribution of Jet A-1 for refuelling aeroplanes and helicopters.
A Jet A-1 storage station fully integrated into a shipping container
This station is built into a 40-foot ISO High Cube shipping container made of Corten steel, allowing easy transport and rapid commissioning on site.
It incorporates a 30,000-litre double-walled aboveground tank, compliant with the NF EN 12285-2 standard, specially developed for the storage of Jet A-1 aviation fuel.
The interior lining receives an INTERLINE 984 treatment, recognised for its chemical resistance and perfect compatibility with aviation fuels.
The whole forms a genuine turnkey refuelling station: robust, durable and perfectly suited to airport environments.
A design built around operator safety

Because aviation fuel storage leaves no room for approximation, this station incorporates numerous safety features:
- double-walled steel tank compliant with NF EN 12285-2;
- 110% secondary containment compliant with environmental regulations;
- leak detector with visual and audible alarm;
- padlockable inspection hatch;
- cage ladder and guardrail for safe access to the manhole;
- ATEX-certified interior lighting;
- 9 kg fire extinguisher with integrated bracket;
- container ventilation
Each item of equipment was selected to guarantee the highest level of safety for operators.
Fuel quality meeting aviation requirements
Jet A-1 quality is essential to ensure flight safety.
This station is fitted with numerous devices to preserve the integrity of the fuel:
- floating stainless steel suction limiting the pick-up of impurities;
- complete sampling system with Visijar;
- 50-litre stainless steel recovery tank;
- sample reintegration via manual pump;
- filtration compliant with EI1581 6th Edition;
- MID meter
This equipment ensures fuel distribution that meets the most demanding standards of the aviation sector.
High-performance distribution for aircraft refuelling

The station is equipped with a high-performance distribution unit comprising:
- ATEX pump 15 m³/h;
- motorised ATEX hose reel fitted with 30 metres of hose;
- ZVF32 automatic nozzle;
- quick coupling allowing the use of a wing hanger;
- 30-metre earthing cable;
- dead man’s handle;
- control pressure gauge and vacuum pressure gauge.
This configuration allows fast, safe and ergonomic refuelling of both aeroplanes and helicopters.
An ideal solution for aeronautical platforms
This containerised station is perfectly suited to the needs of many operators:
- regional airports;
- private airfields;
- helicopter bases;
- airlines;
- industrial operators with helicopters;
- emergency services;
- aeronautical maintenance bases.
Its containerised format makes it easy to transport and install while offering a high level of protection against the weather and acts of vandalism.
Custom-built French manufacturing
Unlike standardised solutions, each PEGASE Énergies station is developed according to the customer’s specifications.
Our teams design fully customisable installations:
- storage capacity;
- fuel type;
- distribution flow rate;
- filtration level;
- instrumentation;
- ATEX equipment;
- compliance with aeronautical standards.
This custom approach guarantees a solution perfectly suited to each operator’s operational needs.
